Mission Statement

FACC or Figurative Artists of Cloth and Clay is a group of doll artists in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The group meets once a month to share ideas, information, techniques, resources and enthusiasm in a safe and encouraging environment. This group comes together with a shared desire to promote doll making as an art form as well as challenge themselves with their doll making abilities.

Reminder

Just an update and reminder for the upcoming workshop;
we will be taking Kate for dinner on the Friday when she arrives. Bistro One is a restaurant that serves glutten free so we will be going there- anyone who wants to join us please let me know so I can make reservatons (6pm)

 It starts on Saturday at 10am until 7pm. I suggest you arrive no later than 9:45 so we can start on time. Plese remember to check the chart below and bring your portion of the potluck.

 Kate has sent a list of what you need to bring; it is as follows

Information from April Meeting

June Meeting is changed to June 13th. Location remains the same.

enough money was raised that everyone taking the Kate Church workshop will save $100.00

each individual will pay $125.00 out of pocket.

Kate arrives Friday am and will be picked up by Leslie and Terry

We will take her for dinner Friday evening (location to be announced) Everyone is welcome to join

Everyone will bring something special from their stash to be presented to Kate at end of the weekend.

Kate will have a class angel for the duration of the workshop- these duties will be shared by Marcia Dubois and Megan Fero.

Group Business
March 2011:

1.     UpcomingClasses with Professional Instructors
-Kate Church 3
Day Workshop, charge is $225/person + lodging $500 (est. 4x$120) + flight
TO-TBay (may now be Ottawa
or Halifax to TBay) return $350?, meals we will do potluck (to avoid meal
cost), BYO clay-tools-wire-etc. (so no kit fees).

– need confirmation next meeting – meal planning to be discussed also.

2.   New Stuff-         Leslie’s studio/shop will be ready for April
meeting – she will be offering open sculpting nights for $25 (thinking of
Thursday evenings)

minutes, or actually doing the minutes while at the meeting

3.    Old Stuff-  CDAA Conference in Toronto that was going to be in May – is doubtfull

– bring your titles, the list can now be posted on the blog

-    Or you will be able to add your own items to the list on the blog
4.     Finances-         50/50 draw to be held at each meeting - $2 each
-    Marcia won (…again….3rd time in a row!) for March - $10 – which she
generously donated back to FACC


Fundraisers
-    Garage/Yard Sale – save your “stuff/junk/spring cleaning items” for sale probably to be held in May or June?
-    “Stash  Swap” at our April meeting. So clean out your stash to exchange anything
you don’t need or want for someone else’s “stuff” at nominal prices. (please put prices on items before meeting)
-    Silent Auction (is now a live Auction to be held at April meeting) – members to
bring an item (something they have created, not necessarily a doll) to April meeting
to put in Silent Auction.
-  Send in Pictures before meeting to Leslie & she will post on Blog for pre-viewing – bids will be accepted until April meeting.
Members are encouraged to bid or share with friends, family or co-workers to bid also. Highest bid for each item at April meeting wins item.

We will be working on them over the next few months to be raffled at the Art Gallery Christmas House Tour – decision that proceeds going to the Gallery

Reminders for the next meeting. Bring your challenges so we can photograph and post them on the site.
Bring your wallet and an item to have auctioned off for our fundraiser. Also bring anything you would like to sell in our stash swap ( funds to go towards May class with Kate Church).

If I am forgetting anything please feel free to comment. I am also open to suggestions on the layout of the blog-this is very basic.
