A year of Creative Endeavours....

January's Meeting was spent planning the year ahead...

New Business
-Welcome to new member Bobbi!
-Welcome back to Marcia!
-As a group we decided we would like to spend each meeting as more of a play date! Each month Members have volunteered to share their creativity and skills. Refer to the schedule to find out what each months focus will be.
-We also decided that Challenge Reveal nights would be troubleshooting and open work nights. Bring your tools and that piece that is stumping you..... another member can likely help you out!
-It was agreed that fees would increase to $35.00/year
-We decided we would pursue inviting someone in to teach this year. Marcia will contact artists and invite them to submit a proposal. We will review at a later date.

Please remember to contact Carla if you are unable to attend. If it is your night to host please make arrangements to swap with another member.

January 2012 Meeting

January meeting was spent planning our year. Here is a synopsis of what was planned.

-We will begin  a round robin doll in February. Everyone should come to that meeting with a blank doll in a brown paper bag with their name on it, as well as a small blank book for each participant to write in. At each consecutive meeting each person will take a bag home to work on for that month. When they return the following month they will bring that bag with their signature to show they have worked on that one. We will do this for six months (March, April, May, June, July, September,) In October all the dolls will be returned to the original owner and revealed to the group.

-it was agreed that the group should be open to new members. At this time however our current meeting location is too small. Joanne has volunteered to look for a location to meet in future that would be no cost. Until this happens new membership is on hold.

-the blog is now public to make access easier for everyone to visit.

-The Christmas Party will be held at Suzie Paul's Home. Instead of a pin doll swap we will be doing an ornament swap.

-To save costs we have decided to do without a teacher this year so we can work towards a road trip to a conference perhaps next year. We will however have a retreat weekend full of creativity, lots of good food (potluck)and fun. We have scheduled  this for August. Everyone is to look into possible locations and costs for this, for the Feb. meeting.

-We will continue our fundraising for the group with a stash sale in February and an Auction in November. Please bring anything you would like to part with from your stash to sell (make sure you price it before you arrive). Also bring your wallets to purchase treasures from each other.
For the Auction anything goes as far as items to auction. Everyone should bring at least one item. This is a great opportunity to get some unique Xmas gifts.

-we have decided to do 4 challenges this year. Emotions, Lyrics, Creatures, If I was a kid again.
check the schedule below for due dates.

In April we will create a Friendship Totem. Each member will create a head in their preferred medium, which will all be put on a dowel to create a totem.

Starting in May at the 1st open work night we will begin creating "The little old lady that lived in a shoe" . Marcia will create the shoe and we will create the characters to complete the vignette. This piece will be finished by the 1st of November and donated to Camp Quality to use in their fundraising auction.
